Hand Crafted Horse Hair Jewellery
Questions
Hair collection and preparation
The hair can be taken from the horse in a number of ways.
- Hold each hair at the bottom and pull out with a strong tug
- Cut from the underside of the tail where it wont be noticed
- Collect hair each time you brush the tail!
In order for me to successfully braid or weave the hair I need to have a minimum
of 10” lengths of tail hair of approximately a pencil thickness for each item required.
If you have less than this or are unsure then contact me to discuss what can be done.
Please note that for bracelets HB01 and TBLO1 I need a minimum of 20” lengths of hair.
If possible please wash the hair prior to sending it but DO NOT use any conditioning
shampoo or conditioners/detanglers, normal shampoo or washing up liquid is fine.
Tie the bundle of hair to prevent it separating and label with your details and horses name.
When the hair is braided it is done in exactly the state that it is sent to me (bar washing) –
it is not treated or dyed in anyway, so may even still have some of your horses smell on it!
More than one Horse
If you would like an item making from the hair from more than one horse then there is no
problem with this. Make sure the hair bundles are easily identifiable and put instructions into
the special requests box on the order form.
Special Requirements
If you require a different length of necklace or bracelet then put the details into the
special requests box. There is no charge for this unless you require the length to be
significantly longer than currently described.
Any other queries then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Payment
With the move away from paper cheques, it is now possible to pay by PayPal or direct
bank transfer.
You can do this by using our on-line order form, where
you can also print off an order form if you prefer to order by post.
Delivery
Please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery. If you require an item sooner than this then contact me and I will try to help!
Items are posted back by special delivery so require a signature on receipt.
Christmas time is obviously very busy, so I would recommend that if you are thinking about purchasing an item for Christmas you post your order in from September onwards. I cannot always guarantee a 3-4 week delivery at this time. Alternatively, gift certificates can be purchased.
